“This video was shot over 20 years ago, during the default in August 1998. That period was marked by everyday TV talks about the financial crisis. Sometimes, because of a poor TV signal, it was impossible to understand what was going on. The sound would be distorted or disappear completely, the image would get blurred and destroyed, acting figures would turn into transformers. It seemed symbolic to me, as it coincided with the crisis and economic meltdown. I think that this was the first glitch-art in Ukraine, even though no one heard about this term back then”.
